Unbored Games: Serious Fun for Everyone By Joshua Glenn & Elizabeth Foy Larsen

I received my copy through a Goodreads First reads Giveaway.

Games are great, aren’t they? Personally I LOVE Role Play games, often on Forums or Instant Messages over the internet. I love game system games (Playstation, anyone?) MMORPGs (Maplestory!) and even regular old Computer Games (The Sims!). Honestly, I love all kinds of games! but sometimes, a game gets a bit… boring. You play it so often, or run out of ideas, and end up going ‘meh, I’ll think of something later’.

Also, with a quickly growing Niece, I have a feeling I’ll be seeing her doing the ‘meh’ thing as she grows up and gets into games.

I can’t wait to break out this book for her and find something fun to play! There’s so many cool game ideas, and a lot of them sound super fun! from board-games to outside games to online games, this book’s got a little something for everyone, no matter what kind of games you like to play. :3

Informational Interview Handbook By Jeff Neil

I received this book from a Goodreads Firstreads Giveaway.

I didn’t find this book helpful at all. There was way too much repetition in the first half of the book and it focused too much on LinkedIn, and the second half I fell asleep while reading, and couldn’t focus over all the repetition to actually read.

The parts I could read, It read like it was supposed to be an e-book of some kind, with things like ‘click here’. And when it referenced color in images, they should have used color in the images instead of black and white.

Seemed more like a pitch for selling services more then a helpful how-to book, and the ‘ways to find people regardless of their settings on LinkedIn’ was just down right scary. People use those settings for a reason after all.

All in all I think I’ll go to another book. This one was just not well written in my opinion, and down right creepy.

YOU’RE A WINNER! – My first Book Giveaway Reward

So, Since I’ve joined Goodreads, I found out about the book giveaways…… Oooh such lovely free books…. ❤

So I entered a bunch, some already ended, some will be ending early tomorrow (1am-ish or there abouts) and some are a few days down the road yet… others are a LOOONG ways off. But I did Manage to win one book already! It’ll be arriving End of July/Early August, unless my mailman decides not to deliver it, in which case I will be VERY unhappy, since that seems to be a habit of my mailperson… sigh…

Anyways, the book I won is called ‘The Lies of Locke Lamora’, from the Gentleman Bastard Series. It’s the first book in the series so I’m not worried about not understanding something unless this series continues from another I’m unaware of at the moment. Anyways, here’s the blurb and the website link:

An orphan’s life is harsh — and often short — in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. Born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora dodges both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains, neither blind nor a priest. A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected family of orphans “Gentlemen Bastards.”

Locke grows to lead, delightedly pulling off one outrageous trick after another, infamous as the Thorn of Camorr—no wealthy noble is safe from his sting. But the Gray King is slowly killing Capa Barsavi’s most trusted men and using Locke as a pawn in his plot to take control of Camorr’s underworld. With a bloody coup under way threatening to destroy everyone and everything that holds meaning in his mercenary life, Locke vows to beat the magically protected Gray King at his own brutal game — or die trying.

I got a bit of a thing for Theives, as I often play one if the option is there in many kinds of games, from MapleStory to Tabletop RolePlay, so this is a book I’ll gladly be reviewing once it arrives and I finish reading it. Keep an eye out for it if your interested, remember, it’ll be in my mailbox (Hopefully!) Sometime between the end of July, and the Beginning of August (4-6 week delivery schedual y’know) and depending on the length and what life throws at me, I might have it done within two days. We’ll just have to wait and see!
