Annotated Ancient Mariner: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

WAAAAY too much intro, waaaay too many notes! I picked up this book for the poem, not to study the ‘behind the words and mind’ stuff, so make of that what you will.

On the whole, not bad, there are two versions of the poem contained within, One a reprinting, one an ‘original’. During the ‘reprinting’ version, there were so many notes and so many layouts (Poem on the top, notes on the bottom, poem on the left, notes on the right, reverse it all!) that I missed sections of the poem looking for it among the notes! Thank the gods for the ‘original’ version, which had so few notes I could read it in full, even if it’s language was harder to understand as it was written as such, and not worry about what was note and what was poem.
